Setup Problems

Hi

I've just tried installing a second time but keep having the same problem. I boot up off the SD card but The LAN never starts up so cant do anything. Plugging in a tv shows it booted up fine in every other way. Running the commands with a plugged in keyboard get me set up ok, but the SSH server never starts meaning I can't do any subsequent configuration without plugging in a TV and keyboard.

Revision 1 Pi, 256Mb, Netgear WN111v2 (works fine after config) wifi pen.

maybe the usb storage combined with the wifi stick is the problem.
Did you try to run it without the stick?

Did the ssid apear at least once after startup?

did you connect the RPi to your home router or to a normal computer with the wired ethernet?

Thank you, I hope it will be of good use ;-)

As an addition: With ieee80211n enabled in the hostapd.conf, the speed improved drastically to about 4.5MB/s, which I think is really nice! :-P

The current connection is Pi->WRT54GS (in repeater mode)->Virgin Media Router/Hub.

Yeah I ran it without the stick, and it's still the same. and no, there wasn't any SSID

Help. No PirateBox Wlan

After the instalation of the raspberrypi image the PirateBox Wlan does not show up.

I used two different wifi adapters directly and with a powered hub. Even tried to search with no success for an inactivated service related to the issue.

The dongles were:
- Edup EP-N8508 (Realtek 802.11n WLAN Adapter)
- ZyDAS USB2.0 WLAN (Atheros)

Can anyone help me with this?

The Edup dongle uses the Realtek RTL8188CUS Chipset, have a look at this thread:

alternatively, ssh to your RPi and run 
systemctl restart piratebox
systemctl status piratebox.service

or, just google "<your dongle> raspberry pi" or "<your dongles chipset> raspberry pi"

Good luck, I had a hard time with my wifi too, but it's running smoothly now, I hope the same for you ;-)

so you connected the RPi via wired ethernet to your WRT54GS?
Do other devices work directly with this setup?

Crazy. Can you try to test the wifi connection with a 2nd device, while you check 
journalctl -f
with the first computer connected via wired ethernet to your PI ? (or even check it at the tv screen)

I understand.

I never used µtorrent before.
When I try to download the file it returns "Error : The filename, directory name, or label syntax is incorrect. (WriteToDisk)"

The driver was not installed and not even thought to look if it were. 
pacman -S zd1211-firmware && reboot

same problem here,
I tried to update the system with the command "pacman -Syu".
Now the led on the adapter lights up but still I can't connect to the Raspberry.

ah, I almost forgot.
With the system update/upgrade the piratebox service start without errors.
I think the config needs just a little tweaking
