Check if lighttpd is currently running with:
$ service lighttpd status
If it's running, use:
$ sudo service lighttpd stop
Afte you've confirmed lighttpd is stopped, try to start piratebox again:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/piratebox start
If you're still getting errors post the output.
$ service lighttpd status
If it's running, use:
$ sudo service lighttpd stop
