Hi,
only increasing the output of the antenna is not enough to create a good network. You will shortly encounter the problem of the following picture
high-DBi Router shouts "HEY MY NAME IS..."
normal client, "oh, yeah. I want to join your network"
high-DBi Router "DID SOMEBODY SAY SOMETHING; HAVENT HEARD ANYTHONG::: HEY MY NAME IS..."
normal client "here me.."
high-DBi Router shouts "..HEY MY NAME IS..."
On a far distance, the normal client isn't strong enough to answer your high dbi antenna. That creates a bad user experience :(
Using additional router in a Repeater-Mode is a good option.
For using the ethernet port on your RPi, you need to do some additional changes, that it will work like in this howto [www.piratebox.cc]
regards Matthias
