Cant enable wifi client mode

I followed the directions here: [piratebox.cc]
But after executing

sudo /opt/piratebox/rpi/bin/wifi_detect.sh

I get this message and the AP never drops.

Found wifi card config
Found nl80211 device capable of AP mode...
warning: hostapd-2.5-1 is up to date -- skipping

Am I doing something wrong?
